So Wendy's are a bunch of dipshit fucktards and even though I never eat there, I'm hoping to get people to boycott their service. Here's why:
My cousin and her boyfriend had been trying to put together a Mom & Pop lunch trailer, named La Cocina Mia after their 2 year old daughter, since April of this year.
The original makers turned out to be frauds. The $11,500 they put for down payment was taken and the trailer was never made. This "company" (Smokey Mountain Concessions) has had an apparent history of this behavior. However, despite the fact that they were under contract, the state of North Carolina where the company is located did nothing to help my cousin. I can't even remember what dumb excuse they had for not being able to take legal action to what is, hands down, robbery.
Either way, with help from her parents, my cousin and her boyfriend were able to get a used trailer and after a lot of work, it passed inspection.
They set up shop in a Home Depot parking lot in Hamilton, NJ towards the middle of September. Employees, customers, and contractors all loved them for being there, and they were doing great.
There is a Wendy's about 1/4 mile from where they were set up and the manager started complaining about their being there. Eventually, he approached Home Depot, claiming to be losing business ($2500 dollars a day) because of my cousin's shop (making just under $200 dollars a day).
That Wendy's rents space on Home Depot's lot, at about 75,000 a month. Despite the audacity of their claims, they apparently threatened to leave, and Home Depot reluctantly had to tell my cousin to go because, the economy being what it is, the store couldn't afford to lose Wendy's rent money or be taken to court over it.
This is such a blow to my cousin and her family, since they've been trying to get their small business up for years, and have faced so many bumps in the road. Moreso than angering, as pissed off as this has made me, it's freaking heart breaking that this restaurant chain has to go and pick on a small family trying to make an honest living.
This all sounds so cliche, but there's a reason for that.
Really, it's just shitty, so I'm hoping that you guys who read this can spread the word and stop eating Wendy's to support everybody who's ever been held back cause of the Big Guys who can't fight each other, so they attack the everyday person.
Besides, it's healthy to stop eating that garbage anyway.

You get some pretty awesome discounts from lots of places, including travel (amtrak, greyhound, cheaptickets), books, target, foodstuffs, among about 5,000 other things.
I just got mine today, which is lame since I'm only going to be in school for 1.5 more years. stupid me.

It amazes me how ignorant people can be.
I hear the argument over whether Bill Clinton was a good president or not from people my age often, and yes, maybe he wasn't a perfect guy in his personal life but 90% of these kids have no idea what it was like as a worker during this time.
People are so apathetic, so willing to believe in this "American Dream" while also willing to live paycheck to paycheck, like 70% of Americans are.
I say this because there's been severe declines in the global stock market, a lot of which is stemming from the United State's suffering economy. Today there's been reports of the damage done so far in 2008, facts that you can watch every day on TV that there's a problem with the economy.
Foreign markets have dropped on average 7%, which doesn't seem like much, but that's money lost into the vortex of nothingness. America is going into a recession.
This pisses me off so much. So fucking much cause people do not want to see or care that this all has to do with politics. All of our money is being WASTED on this losing war. Wasted. Billions, trillions of dollars, our dollars, and China's dollars which in the end will be our debt anyway.
When are people going to wake up, seriously?

so the talk was amazing and I'm glad I had my laptop in class and checked my e-mail to find out about it. It was really interesting to see how the guy Scott (head art director) went about redesigning the entire magazine to make it what it is today. also got the last 2 issues of the zine for free, which is always a plus.
I'm seriously in love with this magazine. everything about it from the content to the design. my motivation to get going on my own magazine, after being crushed by my editoral design class, has finally been renewed.

now to design a credit card for class...
and get working on my portfolio site.......

This isn't to be depressing, but just realistic. This is mostly for me.
I'm tired of being a hyprocrite so I'll just go out and say please don't wish me a merry christmas or anything like that. I don't believe in it, and I haven't for a long time. I'm not christian, though in retrospect neither is christmas.
Still, though, i'd rather be wished a happy solstice or "happy end of the year, here's to a new one" more than anything. These are things i celebrate, the changes in nature and the prospect of new comings. It's more realistic and true to who I am.
Cause other than a chance to start fresh(and honestly for me that's spring anyway), I have little to celebrate right now. I have my friends and the majority of my family, yes, and I love/cherish them deeply. But I've really failed myself and until I work that out I'm not in any position to be celebrating anything.
Anyway, I'm sure it sounds a lot more down than it actually is. But again, this is for me. I want to be a better, truer person and part of that is getting rid of the hypocritical. I don't say grace at meals anymore, and I don't use "oh my god" as much as i used to. This is just another step for me.

Ok, so like many bleachtards, I had heard about the movie Casshern because they shared the same music person and so there were a handful of tracks in the movie that were in bleach.
That being said, I was at blockbuster and apparently it was released last month so I got it. Watched it today.
Amazing, amazing movie. I was brought to tears at the end. Seriously.
One of those Live Action Anime movies, so it's very Sin-City esque in filming (everything done with green screen).
I can see where people complained about the lack of action and what not, but I think it's a nice change from the mindless CGI action films from hollywood. There's a lot of plot, and existential angst which I love.
Reading up on it online, there was almost half an hour cut from the film (it's 170 mins long... over 3 hours), and the parts that were cut in the american release included the main character questioning war and the point of living during war. I wish I could see these parts and I'm not sure if they were cut for a reason by or prude country or not. I wouldn't be surprised.
The subtitles were horrendous, though, for an "officially" released movie by Dreamworks. Like, entire dialogues were just not translated and again, i wonder if it was for the sake of coherence or otherwise.
I might buy the DVD, but I'm def gonna download and burn a full-length fansubbed version so I can get the whole story.
ANYWAY. Whichever means people may decide to go with, I very much recommend this.
ps. When looking it up on amazon, it had a "goes great with..." thingie, and suggested to buy "Karas : the revelation". Ironic, since the other dvd i rented was...karas: the revelation. Spooky.
I'll be 22 in 2 months. o_o!

NO CUT FOR YOU in honor of me actually DOING something (it's been over a year since I've cosplayed)
I actually looove the way it's coming out. I actually like. Measured and used muslin to make patterns meaning it fits me right and It's not 13 inches too big -on either side-
lulz, i'm not 300 pounds, surprisingly. XD hahahaha
Anyway, my issues are:
A)making sure I don't mess up the white corset part (it's my moms) so I have to do the details like..UNDER it... with a bra wut? lulz.
B) figuring out the poof. Duckums recommended interfacing. Stivvums recommends petticoat (either home made or bought) so I'm torn. It's just pinned for reference anyway, so I'm not stuck with this just yet.
C) Fake guitar, wut?
Lulz factor, using pieces from OTHER costumes. My first Hinamori Hakama (which I used for Misato's dress last year, no lie) is what I used for the corset, and the red arm thing (not in pic) is gonna be one of my old utena legwarmers...
